Blessings
for Winter
Based on prayers by

Welcome winter with a
selection of simple prayers to stay safe on icy roads, recover from winter
illness, and give thanks for winter's beauty.
Prayer for
Driving on Snow and Ice
God of power and might, keep those traveling by car or other
means in this winter weather safe as they travel on ice or snow, especially our
family and other loved ones. Calm those who operate the vehicles and other
modes of transportation that they may drive with caution and care. Be with those
operating surrounding cars and modes of transportation, that they too may retain
control. Warm all who travel on snow or ice, that they may not fear the journey
but remain safe and secure in You. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
Prayer for
Road Safety
God of safety, keep me and my loved ones safe on icy roads.
Help me pay attention and drive cautiously. Grant me energy and patience if the
drive takes longer than usual. Keep me warm and safe from harm. Be with me, be
with me, be with me, in Your loving and precious name. Amen.
Thanksgiving
for Winter
God of creation, thank you for the beauty of winter- for
snow, icy window panes, evergreen trees, warm coats, sledding, and hot cocoa. [Insert as many thanksgivings as desired.]; In
Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Thanksgiving
for a Snowy Day
God of nature, the earth is white with the beauty of winter.
Thank you for this snow, and for the ways we're enjoying it. As we enjoy the
beauty of this snow, let us rejoice in the beauty of Your world, this winter
and always, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Blessing
for Winter Weather
God of creation, the snow and ice are beautiful inside. We
must go outside, however for work, school, food, appointments or other errands.
Winter is here, for better or worse. Though the cold can be irritating and the
roads dangerous, bless all who live in Your wintry world, this snowy day and
always, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for
Recovering from a Winter Illness
God of power and might, be with those recovering from a
winter illness, especially [N.]. Send
the warmth of your loving light, that they might find the time, rest, and
treatment to feel better soon. Remind them that they are Your beloved children
and that You are with them during their illnesses, and always, through Christ
our Lord. Amen.
